The Face of Men Dancetheatre Co. was founded by Antonis Bertos in 2011. The aim is to create a multi-dimensional approach of human experience through performances and videodance.
Our philosophy is that, in this rapidly transforming world, art shouldn’t replicate social conventions, but become a powerful means, holding space for what is different and co-creating what is unshaped.
We are working in the fields of dancetheatre, physical theatre and Japanese contemporary dance "Butoh" for our performances.
“Innocent parents” (videodance) was selected and participated in the 1st international Athens Videodance Festival in 2011, organized by “Team Progressive”, and in the 2nd Digital Film Festival, in Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, in 2012.
“Decent 2,1%” performance was played 6 times : in "Fournos Theater-Bodies and objects in motion Festival" during April 2015, in International Theater and Puppet Festival of Kilkis (Northern Greece) in May 2015, in the 6th International Athens Videodance Festival (Promenade) in January 2016.
“Say hello to lonesome people” performance took place in Beton 7 theater, at the framework of Visions-V_Ideas, Performances 3rd Edition, June & July 2016, in assossiation with the School of Fine Arts, ISBA (Institut Supérieur des Beaux Arts de Besançon), Intermedia Foundation, NY-USA & Dance Singularity.
"Oceanic" performance took place in 14 Mera Theater in Acropolis for 5 sold-out shows during May 2017.
Antonis Mpertos was born in Athens. He studied Psychology at University of Athens, physical theatre and dancetheatre at Plefsis (teacher: Antonis Koutroumpis) and acting at the Drama School of Akis Davis. His education was continued with intense courses of contemporary dance at Quasi Stellar Studio (Apostolia Papadamaki) & butoh seminars with Olia Lydaki (Present Body Studio), Αggeliki Stellatou (Art Act Area), Davide di Prettoro (Sasa Walz) & Stavroula Siamou (Cumana dance studio), Atsushi Takenuchi and Androniki Marathaki (Quilombo studio), Konstantinos Michos (Studio Wrong Movement), Spyros Kouvaras (Choreographic Synthesis), German Jauregui (Ultima Vez-Hochschule fur Musik und Tanz Koln) κ.α.
In 2005, he participated in “The Snowqueen” choreographed by Rey Bara in the National Opera. Between 2006-2008, was a member of the physical theater team “Atropos”, participating in performances in theater “Argo” & Eilissos. His solo-performances have been hosted from 2008-2015 in Fournos theater, in Rhodes Theater, Kozani Theater, in Fringe Festival & Medieval Festival of Rhodes. In 2014, he participates in “Xenia” movie by Panos Koutras.
In 2012, he founds “ Aerini Poli”, educational programmes of non-typical emotional education for children, based on “Non-violent Communication (K.E.D.E org) “ under the aegis of the Greek Ministry of Education. From October 2016 until December 2017, he worked as a coach/educator in the shelter of unaccompanied minor refugees “Xenia Teens”. From 3rd January 2018 he is a psychologist and supervisor trainer in Connect Athens-Youth Center. He is also the main trainer of the European Program ''Digital Welcome'' about digital storytelling between the countries of Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece. He is also the founder of Dare Dance Digitalize-The 3D project.
